• Objective: To describe a patient who underwent hysteroscopic resection of a uterine septum for infertility with silent uterine rupture in subsequent pregnancy.
• Design: Case report.
• Setting: Pt JNM medical college associated with DR.BRAMH ,Raipur
.
• Patient(s): A 27-year-old primigravida nulliparous female with primary infertility with a history of hysteroscopic resection of a uterine septum 18 months back presented in spontaneous labor in emergency .
• Main Outcome Measure(s): Pregnancy and delivery
• Result(s): The patient had an uneventful pregnancy and spontaneous labor at 40 weeks. Cesarean section was performed because of suspected fetal distress. During cesarean section, the uterus was ruptured transversely along the mid fundus at the line of the attachment of the septum(6cm*5cm).Uterine rupture was repaired successfully. No surgical and post-operative complications occurred.
• Conclusions: :Silent Uterine rupture may occur in pregnancies after hysteroscopic resection of the uterine septum even when no complications occur during procedure. Its incidence is 1–2.7% There will be increased risk of rupture in future pregnancies .Therefore clinicians providing care for patients who have had hysteroscopic metroplasty should be aware of the potential for uterine rupture during pregnancy.
